The last one to a $100.00CPU is the looser.

The reality is even much worse than you said since Intel was forced to enter sub-$1,000 PC market without a proper roadmap and the neccesary technology to compete with the Mad AMD and the smart Cyrix.

Yes, I converted all my CYRX into NSM and got some more NSM calls this week. The new single chip solution, MXi, from Cyrix is going to take over the games and workstation after it debuts during 2H/98. The 128-bit MXi will have:

2D graphic
3D graphic
128-bit datapath
66Mhz PCI
> 4X AGP
dual pipelined FPU
dual MMX
DVD
....

Take a look of MXi presentation under Cyrix software development page. MXi was scheduled to tape out during this quarter and will be available during 2H/98. MXi and K6+3D are going to turn Intel into a low margin CPU vendor soon.
