On Day One. There were, no doubt, mountains of data. But they knew damned well the nature of the attack when he made the statement, and certainly when they sent Rice out. In fact, it was totally bizarre that they sent RICE, of all people, to do the misleading. At the time, I thought, "WTF is SHE doing there?" And frankly, I don't know why the Sunday talk hosts didn't question it at the time. There was clearly something up then and there. It is as though they sent out the president's typist to explain it all. Even had it not been at a crucial point in the election, it would have looked strange. But there is no doubt, whatsoever, there was a political motivation behind it. There is no other reasonable explanation. All of these post-election revelations are infuriating to people who could see the lying & misrepresentations at time. And had it not been for Fox, I do not believe the story would have gotten out at all.

But if they really wanted to be sure, they wouldn't have jumped to conclusions and blamed the riots that were ignited by some video on the Internet. That's the key here. They had to say something, anything that would make the attack look like another case of "shit happens in the Middle East." There it is...a glimpse of reason quickly followed by the inevitable cynical collapse... Al
