Ok, another example... They were nearing TD of the third well and T Paul or Al or one of the other Three Stooges stood up in front of an investor conference and said everything was hunky dory and they were on track. 24 hours later they had received BOEMRE approval to sidetrack the well. That means they fucked up, made a decision to sidetrack, prepared all the documentation, submitted it, and had it approved in a day? Not fucking likely. That has to be some sort of FD issue at minimum.

I don't know how many wells you have drilled in your life but I have been on too many to count. Unfortunately some of them required sidetracks. But not once was a problem encountered and a sidetrack started in a 24 hr period. Usually there are attempts to at least fix the problem. In deepwater that in itself can take at least a day.
