It was informative. I don't agree they had the WDC drive set up correct (I get 23-27 MB/Sec burst from my WDC drive on two different benchmarks).

It is fairly common knowledge that IBM has the fastest line of drives. Last time I checked at the local retailers they had the prices to match. It isn't worth the differenence for most people. You're talking about a few seconds on an all-out 80-90 second disk transfer. You won't even notice a difference in most of the drives if you do a blind game load without a stopwatch. Your game's screen might come up in 4.8 seconds instead of 5.0 seconds. Big Deal!

I think I'll go and check IBM's prices again tomorrow. I want to return this Maxtor UDMA drive I got a few weeks ago. It's large, noisy, and it's UDMA transfer rate is less than my WDC drive (at least on my machine).
