Greg,

I hope your original short position wasn't motivated wholely on the gap-down theory and scan we discussed a couple weeks ago. They sure look good on historical scans for 2-3 day production, but beware. The market spike (spelled intermediate trend change) of late April caught me with 3/4 of my portfolio short positioned after a great run of March and April hedging. I proceeded to drop nearly the entire period profits in 3 days before covering. We all have bad spurts of luck and lapses in logic, but watch overall market trends in addition to individual issues; especially on gap-inspired shorts when the trend is still decidedly up longer-term for most issues. They can evaporate quickly.

I too was going to respond to your exploration question yesterday, but I thought the recent discussion of list output to a text printer was the most cogent solution. I can't load but 50-60 charts into memory at once before Metastock gets totally constipated. They really need to get with a modern gameplan as far as data management. There must be some crusty septagenerians on the board gagging and handcuffing the programmers.

Better luck ahead,
CP
