I remember hearing years ago that options were "always short-term", but I don't know of any basis to support that today.

IMO, the sale of an Option / LEAP held longer than 12 or 18 months, would qualify for the lower rates, as applicable. Maybe someone else has some thoughts about options being short-term??

The holding term for the stock acquired by exercising an option was referenced by a post of mine a week ago, if you look back you'll see it.
That post also mentioned the holding period for exercised warrants.
