Are they still debating over where the Birth of the American Navy is. Beverly or Marblehead? Yes, of course... that "discussion" was recently the focus of a Chronicle show about Bostons Coast Guard Station. Neither have let that argument go... Balch house is certainly one of the oldest standing houses in our country... that date 1636 is been changed to 1679... en.wikipedia.org There maybe partial elements of houses older in places like Essex and Ipswich... Then of course Rhode Island is another... This might be the oldest structure built by europeans on our shores... en.wikipedia.org
