No, that's an observation based on liberal westerners who don't like Christianity and embrace an imaginary Buddhism that isn't much like the real thing.

Buddhism & Buddha are as real as Socrates or Pythagoras are and your point that somehow Christianity is the standard bearing flag for model citizens is as skewed as your Evolution denial is . Already gave you an example of George Washington following the example of the early Roman leader Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus here when it came to the highest form of virtue in leadership, he was not thinking of the Christian saints.

There is a point of accepting all of human history, not selectively living in one self imposed narrow band of history in denial and respecting all of the past.

Since most all genius leaders of nations and cultures themselves in human history embraced the wisdom & examples that preceded their own. That many of the greatest minds of science & business today were/are drawn to those ideas & meditations of Buddha was a natural thing , since it took in the wide sweep of all living things and describes a universe of inexorable change as it really is . And for the most part most scientist are already passionate, fiercely dedicated to their fields & given naturally to that form of asceticism in years of lab & field study.

That you don't like it means it most certainly has to be a supreme goodness, or as they say down in Texas, tuff shit.

Lot of people don't know that Buddhism has a similar view of sexual morality to Christianity's, has multiple heavens and hells, and believes morally wrong behavior will be punished. It also believes in supernatural things for which there's no scientific evidence at all, like karma and reincarnation.

Thats why many of the same devotional and worship aspects of Buddhism & Christianity can both be seen as corruptions of the original teachings of the Buddha & Christ . Both religions would be far better if rid of of naive, petitionary, and superstitious trappings of religion altogether & just get with the real program.

Where do you think the idea of religious relics came from which was hugely important for the Christian religion & cathedral building at that time? It certainly pedates Christianity & ties directly back to Buddha's death & an earlier religious ritual tendency of many 1000s of years before. After his cremation bones & teeth were saved & great temples built up around them just like in medieval Christianity, the same thing 1500yrs later.

Do you think Jesus was the first young human sage that wandered out in the desert & communed with nature? That tradition goes back historically before Buddha of a 1000 yrs easily with the Jain saints that made Jesus look like a puppy when it came to love of life & pacifism.

If you want to gain respect then stick your nose where it belongs, not where it doesnt then maybe you wouldn't have many modern educated younger generations scoffing at you (& your counterparts in Islam). Theres alot to be said for piety, dedication, contemplation , meditation & the knowledge that comes from a little benign asceticism.

Whe young people see this interview with Dawkins & Wendy Wright in the most rediculous state of denial, look who's patronizing who? It was teachers for about 20 decades (and centuries) that were threatened with extinction if they taught the correct science, if Darwins ideas were abused then all the more reason to be even more faimliar with the subject because it only proved out to be true? ( The last 20centuries of historical record could only be called Darwinism right up to Hitler, Stalin & Mao etc)

This is classic and kids do get to see this, people like Wendy Wright couldn't have done more to hurt your cause, she's acting like a complete idiot:
