I have a friend who was the executive at a Big Pharma who funded University and Medical Research studies and he told me that 90% of his funding went to get researchers to validate their drugs. If a researcher came back with a report which trashed the drug, then that researcher would not be asked to do anymore studies. He said that the Government funded studies were more worrisome as the researchers were not indebted to the drug companies for their income and could put out a negative report without being blackballed.
