"FACE-OFF: IS THE WORST OVER FOR 3COM?"

Take this week's
exploration of 3Com's
(COMS) prospects. "I
can't wait to see what insights he's got," said
BancAmerica Robertson Stephens analyst Paul Johnson
when informed his debate partner would be 3Com bear
Peter Lieu Adams of Harkness & Hill. "Let me tell you
about that guy's record," responded Adams. "He had a
Buy on the stock when it was at 50, and downgraded it
when it fell to 40."

Maybe extreme volatility just brings out the best in
people. 3Com has certainly dished up plenty of that over
the past year. Our question was whether the No. 2
networker stands to rebound after it announced it would
miss analysts' projections for earnings and revenues in its
second quarter. 3Com said that an inventory glut in its
modem business -- acquired last spring with its purchase
of U.S. Robotics -- would shave $400 million off sales and
reduce quarterly profits to four cents a share from
projections of 42 cents.

Martin I stand by my earlier post that you appear to have a technicians background and not an engineer. I can tell by your use of the lingo. I have a difficult time believing that you design networks, with your lack of understanding of the total technology. Its not enough to say that COMS has good equipment. What technical education do you have. BSEE, CME, are you NOVELL certified, or what? Surely that is not classified. With respect to your "funny english" (not my term) I suspect you were educated in another country and english is your second language. Boy would I ever have a tough time trying to express my self technically in Italian here!

With respect to the non-disclosure contract it is indeed standard practice for all companies to not release proprietary information outside the company to vendors unless they have a strict "need to know".. As far as you getting access to future CSCO, ASND or other planning information I do not believe it!!!!! Only a very few within CSCO has access to that information, and surely not a network designer from outside the company.

With respect to the term you used of "Technology Officer", never head or it and I retired with over 35 years in the industry. Maybe I misunderstood your use of the title.
