It appears Nikon is the vendor that really hates Cymer's position in the laser market - completely understandable from their point of view. There is an interesting battle going on here. Nikon desperately wants a second source, but the other laser vendors are not up to it at this point. Nikon and Cymer are dependent on eachother for future success.
Cymer's technological and manufacturing lead will most likely keep Nikon within the Cymer fold for the near-future(large majority of Nikon's DUV tools will use Cymer), and Cymer's dependence on Nikon for volume orders will hopefully keep them striving to better serve Nikon.

This situation seems analogous to the Intel/Compaq relationship(ASML, Canon, and SVGL are Dell-like). No?
