Yes. The MIddle Ages were DARK. But there were many good things, too. Just as there are many BAD things in our wonderful enlightened age! The middle ages proved that intellect and art can survive the special privilege of sub-human rulers and the instruments of torture and death invented to dispense with freedom of thought. The middle ages demonstrated that dictators could still be served--and that the chosen always have proof (from fire, to drawing-and-quartering), that they truly are CHOSEN! And that they must be served and OBEYED.
