6/7/13 Contest Update
One would think with so much computer power devoted to algorithmic trading there wouldn’t be any left over to spy on our phone calls and email. But, apparently, that’s not a problem. Meanwhile, Wall Street’s rambunctious computer algorithms had another busy week full of fun and games.
At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 23.70% YTD (vs. up 24.03% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 30.74% (vs. up 30.84% YTD a week ago) and the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 14.89% YTD (vs. up 14.45% YTD a week ago).
In the year 507, King Clovis vanquished the Visigoths and the Clovis winning streak continued in the year 2013. Just this week, Clovis Oncology announced its defeat of two formidable foes, lung and ovarian cancer. A doubling of the Clovis share price on the good news helped RKRW’s portfolio (now up 67.39% YTD) retake the Contest lead. BLADE’s portfolio, up 60.51% YTD, fell to second place, with FILO’s portfolio, up 57.33% YTD, holding on to third place.
At Friday's close, 38 of the 39 Contest portfolios were still in the black with 12 of the 39 beating the NBI.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks ranked by % Gained and % Lost for the week.
Portfolio adjustments: None
Have a safe & fun weekend biotechies!
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits, greatly appreciated.)
Peace & good health,
Bulba
