The article came from the Keiser Foundation and it draws its own conclusions...what you copied is a single quote in the article. What Avik Roy did with his "analysis" is completely disingenuous. He compares very high deductible plans a healthy young person can buy on the private market (a small segment of the population by the way) to a group negotiated plan with much more generous benefits. The comparison that the California officials did is more appropriate and in that comparison patients see savings with added benefits. I wish people like Roy did something more productive with his skills, whatever they may be.
