Interesting and clealry very objective comment - really advances the discussion in a uniquely intelligent manner. If you lost money on the companies which you mentioned my condolances - but you made the choice!!! - you did the due-diligence, spoke to management at length and researched the technical aspects at length - or did you?

Our experience and that of many others has been that the Kazaks do live up to their word - ask Hurrican hydrocarbones or Chevron who are developing a 9 billion barrel field. What sets these comapnies apart from the rest is that they are performing and abiding by their stated obligations and commitments.

In defense of Howe street I would suggest that the majority of companies are actually managed by people driven to succeed and build viable companies - you should not be excessivley cynical - these are you fellow Canadians and my experience is that the management of these comapnies are very concerned not only about the fall in the share price of their companies but also of the harm done to their shareholders by the fall in price. How do you tell these "hero of capitalism" apart from the carpetbagger - it is all in the information provided to shareholders and the detail in their press releases - well at least to the trained eye - like EC.
