Frank my deepest sympathy on your loss. It sounds like he had the opportunity to live out his last days with the love and caring of his family around him.

If I read this message correctly: 1) FTEL can build the hardware, and has written the software, for the TEMPEST. 2) FNET can use the TEMPEST, and sell telephone calls (which includes other services such as faxes). 3) FNET can do this cheaply - much more cheaply than the current way. 4) There is plenty of cash on hand to start this up. 5) Oh, by the way, FTEL is the only competitor in telephony that has near-normal quality that I've heard of (is this true? anyone heard of another company with equal or near-enough as to make no difference equal quality?) The only way this won't pay off big is if some VHS versus Betamax marketing ploy squeezes us out. But, that'll be harder to do quickly in this case because a phone call is a phone call to normal folks. No one's counting movie boxes in video stores to see who wins.
