Bonnie, I am not particularly high on conspiracy theories of any kind (but just because you are paranoid, it does not mean THEY are NOT following you <VBG>), I think the heard of bulls has tasted a little fear and is now herded (?) into a narrower and narrower group of defensive stocks. No special conspiracy there, except that act has a way to move the SPY and the DOW in a more accentated fashion. Here we are at new highs on the S&P but the number of new highs is only 1/3 what it was last time we were here. That should tell you something about bad breadth (breath). I still view this as a rally in a bear market. If it goes to far it will rob us of the january effect all together. Since I do not think that will happen I still expect (I am too stubborn) some retrenchment here. Not much time left however, so I would say that expiration will have a lot of puts and calls expiring worthless.
