For an example, a house I restored in LA was built by Mary Tustin whose husband founded Tustin, CA.
See, that's the thing. No offense to your workmanship, but why is it so important to preserve homes built by Mr. and Mrs. Tustin? After all, Tustin isn't that significant of a city. In fact, I would consider it a "subdivision" of Irvine. ;-)

That historical fact coupled with the architecture of the house and the character of the neighborhood made it worth saving. Why judge a book or anything else by its cover?
