Here is the low down on the acquisitions:

PeopleMan was an "off-balance sheet" venture funded by PSFT. The group developed PeopleSoft MFG software, using PeopleTools, PSFT's development toolset. When the software was complete, PSFT acquired PeopleMan. This was the plan from the on-set for PeopleMan

Red Pepper provides very sophistocated planning and optimization software, which was integrated into PSFT's mfg software after the acquisition.

Salerno Mfg, was acquired to round out the suite of products, offering best of breed quality management software.

MM: PSFT entered into a tech. licensing and distribution agreement with Red Pepper in June '95. I believe it was that collaboration that was identified as PeopleSoft Manufacturing, Inc. The joint activity permitted PSFT to design and deliver an Enterprise Resource Planning solution (ERP) that fully exploited the advanced planning
technology for manufacturing. When they realized that Red Pepper was a "Best of Breed" and had the best planning and optimization technology in the marketplace. PSFT bought them to prevent other ERP providers from having access to the product. Hope this helps. In my opinion, the outlook for PSFT continues to look good and will be further strengthened as they implement their sales strategy aimed at the next tier of prospects for all of their ERP solutions...HRMS, Financials, Distribution, and Manufacturing.
