OWW...If a little jingoism would put a few more contracts in LSI's pocket, and jack up earnings for the long-suffering shareholders -- well, I'd be willing to take a few slings and arrows. (I am an internationalist, however, even if I can't spell for "CHit"..
Seriously, if there are fewer competitive fabs now being projected to come on line over the next few years... well margins should move higher for the fabs which have been financed )read: Gresham... (!!)
AND, perhaps, REMAIN there long enough to reap a few benefits, for a change.. JMHO, but I like the looks of this trend! TSO
Ole

Shane,

I have been lurking (almost exclusively) for some time now, and have been impressed with your technical grasp of chips, etc, whereas I consider myself an expert on chips of the potato, not silicon, variety. With limited cash, I am considering LSI and ATML as candidates for a s/t (3-6 month) bounce. What is your opinion of the product quality comparison? I can read the balance sheet, and give the nod there to LSI. But am constantly worried about 20% of business coming from one customer. Thanks for enlightening us with your knowledge of all things silicon. If you (or anyone else) have any questions concerning frito-lay, etc...

To Shane and others:
BW dated 12/15/97 pg134 article discusses MOT's major commitment to building "complete systems on a chip". Mr. Marz, EVP, of LSI within the article scoffs at MOT's ambitions. Because its chips were developed by independent teams, he says, merging them into one-chip designs will be difficult. Comments Please. Sorry I dodn't know how to post entire article here.
