DM,price cuts for compaq just means that cpq was collecting extra profit for a month or weeks , then they passed the savings on..
some of it.
plus. i think cpq planned in price cuts so even though they shipped it last qtr , if they knew they were going to give the dealer back some money this qtr.
they reserved that off last qtr..so, it was already paid for in the
3q97. they pull the money out of a reserve bucket...

the financial community knows how this works.
