  1. Hi Dima, from my initial perusal of this new feature .....it appears that it will be a significant upgrade... it will create more of an Amazon.com type experience ( also found in several other communities); in Amazon's case they have a peer evaluation system which let's the participants vote on who are the evaluators that are the best. Those that bring the most Gravitas to the topics they evaluate and review
my very best regards,

John

I am not wild about the new banner. It feels to busy with the type over the icons.

FWIW....

Can you do anything about spacing of the links at the bottom of the page (i.e. Home, Mail, Hot, SubjectMarks, PeopleMarks, Keepers, My Profile, Settings) in the new beta version? The "SubjectMarks" link used to be in the center of the bottom link bar. Now the "PeopleMarks" link is in the center of the bottom link bar.

Thanks,

B.K.

I went to the best site. Recommended a post as a test, and I don't see any indication that I recommended it other than the fact that the recommendations number went up by one.

If it matters the post is siliconinvestor.com

Then I SUGGEST you provide a CONFIRM before allowing the recommendation button to proceed...
I have MANY times accidentally recommended a post SIMPLY BECAUSE the button is to CLOSE to the NEXT page...
IN OTHER WORDS ..I DIDN"T MEAN TO RECOMMEND..
DUMB LAYOUT...

I don't see the point.

What's the big deal about knowing who recommends a post? Are the 18 people who recommended your post going to form a club?

Sounds good.

I always wonder who my ever dwindling number of fans are :-)

It would be great if there was a way to take back a rec if it was clicked accidently (or I change my mind - Hrumph !)

Another suggestion - the "reset all" button on the subject marks list should really have a confirmation.

On a smartphone it's really easy to accidently press...

The Beta header doesn't work on iPad.

Sounds like a good idea, @Dima.

I do, however, have a request ...

Would it be possible for the person, who made the "Recommendation", to choose not to have his/her name displayed ?

It would be good to see who actually recommends. Can you tell me how I can get the "who" if Recs are truly public?

Now, when I read a message and return to the board to read another, it returns me to the header of the board so that I have to scroll down (again) to the next message to read, rather than my last position.
Why did SI change this?

I would love an opt-out on both ends of the Facebook "Like" behavior. This has never been a social site to me, and it never will be.

And p.s. at least 1-2% of my rec's have been accidental, when I think I'm pressing the "last read" link. Another reason to have an opt-out for me.

What's with all the very annoying and juvenile fuzzy and glowing fonts in the header?
You do realize that a majority of SI members are aged and already have enough vision issues from staring at computer screens for some 20 years?
And still not clear on the need to disclose who "likes" a post
I'd prefer to know who doesn't like it

Would it be possible to add an option to not see the popup messages that appear in the upper part of the screen. They seem more annoying than useful.

Also, why was the feature disclosing who makes a recommendation added to SI? I don't recall a user ever asking for it.

TIA
