BeenRetired, I bought my first shares of SNDK in the late 90's for single digit prices. Made a killing back then. Since then, I have been in and out of SNDK many, many times. But, aside from a couple of short gaps, I have owned at least some shares or options over all of those years. It took me a long time to learn that the stock is so volatile, that you have to be willing to move in and out of it opportunistically. You probably already know this. That being said, rarely in all of the past fifteen years have I seen the planets come into alignment like they have now. As of yesterday, I am back in big with fingers crossed.

Regarding the control of the markets, I agree completely that many stocks are manipulated in a big way. In the past, there is no question in my mind that SNDK has been manipulated. For a more generalized perspective, spend a few minutes reading the two articles linked below. One is an interview with Bernie Madoff. He says flatly that the markets are stacked against retail investors and the safest way to invest is in an index fund.
