Some of the conflicts between conservatives and liberals have involved a battle of words, which liberals seem to be winning by a process of elimination. The process begins with relabeling things so conditions which have historically held some sort of taboo for conservatives gain a new level of acceptability. Through a progressive process of redefinition and social engineering the traditional foundations lose their historical meaning. From what I can gather, as those traditional terms are rendered meaningless or moved further in that direction, liberals rejoice. What is community? What is family? What is marriage? What is religion? What is patriotism? What is competition? Hard work is rewarded? What is decency? What is self reliance? What is self defense? What is self discipline? What is principle? What are sexual relations? etc. And frankly to a very large extent, that battle will determine the outcome of the war.
