Qing-Bin Lu Is Trying to Destroy the Planet! I ask you, how can we trust a "science" which produces answers that do not agree with what is in Al Gore's books and movies? This is not science, this is witchcraft.

In the second place, this theory blames the problem of global warming on CFCs, a problem which the government has already regulated; what the hell good is that?

I read the arXiv.org paper from last Fall which is a preliminary version of the paper referred to in the PR you've referenced.

To the degree I'm capable of judging these things, I find it convincing. His argument that CO2 is not the global warming culprit and especially since 1970 seems very strong. I recommend others here read it. Be interesting to see if they agree.

From your post:

"This study underlines the importance of understanding the basic science underlying ozone depletion and global climate change," said Terry McMahon, dean of the faculty of science. "This research is of particular importance not only to the research community, but to policy makers and the public alike as we look to the future of our climate."

The U of Waterloo is commendable in supporting Lu - they'll be taking lots of heat.
