>> but the help is a horror of who know less about anything in the store...not to mention the pallets in the middle of the isles, the carts with flat wheels going bumpity bump down the aisles, and items ever missing from shelves...it's a horrible shopping experience....goes to show how much a shopper will forgive to get a cheap price.

It is a fact that people who shop at WMT are looking for the best prices and not much in the way of services. If you're in WMT, you don't expect to have a pleasant face come up and insist on helping you find what you're looking for. That's not their business model.

OTOH, never can I remember asking a WMT employee for help and being treated poorly. I don't go there much now but I did when I was younger. I tend to remember bad experiences with businesses of any kind, and I just don't remember it at all if anyone was anything but accommodating to me there.

But for most Americans, the prices make it worthwhile. Most of the merchandise is decent for the prices they charge; my wife commonly goes there for certain grocery items specifically because those items are cheaper. While the company is clearly the most technologically advanced retailer in the world, they're real prowess is in the understanding that pricing is everything to their customers -- and they negotiate suppliers to the thinnest of margins, as they should.

Having worked with a few WMT suppliers over the last ten years, WMT's supply chain management is impressive. Which it can be because everything they buy they buy in volume. If you want to sell to WMT, you're going to accommodate their requirements -- which may mean palletization is suboptimal for you but will be to their requirements; you're going to barcode everything to their specs, and you're not going to send paper invoices. They manage everything.

It is a great company in every respect. But it is not for those who want USDA prime beef or great clothes or jewelry.

Me too...prices are lower, but the help is a horror of who know less about anything in the store...not to mention the pallets in the middle of the isles, the carts with flat wheels going bumpity bump down the aisles, and items ever missing from shelves...it's a horrible shopping experience....goes to show how much a shopper will forgive to get a cheap price.

I probably go there once a month and have never had such experiences...

I haven't been to a walmart in a long time but people were friendly and knowledgeable in everyone I've been in. My wife likes to grocery shop there.

Can't imagine anyone having a problem finding anything. Just go look. As I recall, there are usually clothes on one side, tv's/electronics in the rear center, hardware/auto parts in a rear corner, sporting goods (yes they sell guns there) not far from there, cosmetics/vitamins/toiletries like shampoo up toward the front. If you've been to a local walmart once, you know where everything is from then on.

What kind of idiot aligheri must be to have trouble finding things. Or he's just making stuff up.
