Are you are saying that put options are better than short positions?
I have been struggling with this question for some time.

With the options you are sure to lose if the stock does
not go down in a few months, plus it has to go down a lot further
before you make money - because of the premium you paid. With
shorts you can wait forever, get in and out as you please and
the stock price only has to swing a small fraction of a point
before you can make money - depending on how many shares you short.

Of course if the stock stays up forever you will need nerves
of steel. And there is the risk of the stock being called.

Explain to me why you think options are better than short position.
