John, it's hard to see exactly how it's going to play. The bad side, as you point out is the lost sales.. The good side consists of lower cost of components, as the local currencies get devalued -- but also the reduction in new construction (especially of Fabs), as the banks have to conform to "prudent" investment rules (IMF imposed).
The extent of the damage? -- I recall reading that the affected SEA countries accounted for 7 % of sales, and that the reduction could be as much as 40% of that -- a drop in total sales of 2.8%. That is significantly less than the growth rate for most of the affected companies. Tradeoff -- some lost sales, much higher profit margins... sounds like a buy to me ! All IMHO, of course.
