LACEY — A 31-year-old woman was arrested last week after police say she used racial slurs against a fellow passenger during an argument on a New Jersey Transit bus.

Jamie Pfeiffer of Barnegat was taken into custody by Lacey police just after 10:30 p.m. Wednesday after they were notified of a verbal altercation on a bus that had stopped along Route 9 near Beach Boulevard in the Forked River section of town.

Police say Pfeiffer, who is charged with bias intimidation and harassment, offended an African-American man while she quarreled with the bus driver and him.

She was released without bail.

Pfeiffer is scheduled to appear in Lacey municipal court June 18 at 10 a.m. but will not enter a plea, according to a spokeswoman. The judge will simply explain the charges. The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office will determine whether to seek an indictment.
