Ibexx,

I heard a rumor, not from Maria, that Mory did send out an internal message to ASND employees Thursday P.M. saying the rumor was BS. Given Mory's past performance, it would be his style to tell employees one thing and the public nothing.

Not so cynical actually. Seems as likely as anything. Probably more so given their track record.

Again, just as the WSJ is referring to the LU talk as "a takeover rumor of dubious merit", Fortune is referring to ASND as "Everyone's favorite scary ride".

Follow up to "the scariest tech stock ever". An earned reputation certainly, but not one anyone would want.

Since we're near the end of the end the year milestone, it just has to be noted that it's been remarkable how devastatingly effective Cisco's rumored operation "Kill Ascend" has been. The Cisco people have been proven so right in such a big way that any contrary view is rendered risible. And just as surely, Cisco will expand on its lead in the coming year, building strength upon strength, success upon success. The "juggernaut" shall continue to pick up speed.

So Ascendiaries end the year hoping for salvation in yet another rumored buyout - only confirming in the process what we knew all along and few of them will rarely, if ever, admit.

Cheers and regards

BTW, PBS's Nightly News Hour last Friday had a big story on the high tech boom which featured an interview with Chambers and focus on Cisco along with some other standouts. Chamber was very enthusiastic, proclaiming once again his keynote theme that we are on the cusp of a shift as dramatic as another industrial revolution, with Cisco a major player at the leading edge.
