ppb is to ounces per ton this way. multiply ppb by .000029167 Maybe its simpler to divide by 1000 and mulitply by .029167. This gives you ounces per short ton. So 50 ppb is 50 X .000029167 = .0145 troy ounces per ton, Parts per million is equal to gramms per metric tonne as there are 1,000,000 grams in a tonne. So PPB/1000 equals ppm. Then multiply to get troy ounces. The troy ounce is 31.10347 grams. There are 12 troy ounces in a troy pound. There are 29,166.66 troy ounces in a short ton of 2000 lbs avoirdupois. The short ton uses 16 ounce pounds of the regular type whose ounces are 28.349 grams. But gold ounces are Troy which is derived to be equal to American Apothecary measure of grains. There are 480 grains or 20 penny weights in a Troy ounce.
