I've heard it used in other contexts, but tejek's use of the term today was the first I've seen of it being used as a derogatory or racist term.

Heck, it is even in the Wikipedia. ..

I was rather amazed as well.

And it works the other way as well..........wetback is more a TX term but people in CA are well aware of it. Its part of popular culture.
