6/21/13 Contest Update When will Bernanke terminate the Bernanke put? Only the Shadow (Fed) knows. Well, maybe not. Nonetheless, this week investors were mostly betting the Bernanke put will be put down sooner rather than later and stocks took a beating. At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 20.10% YTD (vs. up 23.83% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 22.90% (vs. up 28.10% YTD a week ago) and the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 11.19% YTD (vs. up 13.38% YTD a week ago). Despite a declining market, FILO’s portfolio, up 73.78% YTD, actually picked up a few percent and held on to the Contest lead. RKRW’s portfolio, up 71.89% YTD, bucked the market as well and rose to second place, while BLADE’s portfolio, up 58.91% YTD, fell to third place. At Friday's close, 33 of the 39 Contest portfolios were in the black with 18 of the 39 beating the NBI. Below is the Top Ten list.
