I know its not a solution to your problem, but about 4 years ago, I had a hard time seeing my computer screens, I have 5, and resorted to cheap reading glasses.

I went to the eye doctor and they made me a prescription for Computer Glasses. They are not cheap, around 500 bucks, but they make working at the computer very comfortable for long periods of time. No eye strain and I can see perfectly.

I am not saying you need them, but they helped me out big-time for working on my computers.
