This, from a man who can't work a 9th grade, chapter 1 math problem.

However, there is something terribly wrong with that map. As can be seen from the linked census data, the national average of HS graduates is around 85.3%, with most states in the 80%-90% range, just where you'd expect to find them given that mean.

Importantly, CA is ranks right there beside MS. Also importantly, while some states like AL and AR have improved steadily, CA appears to have the WORST record of improvement among all the states. THAT is pitiful.

The MOST important thing, however, is the question of how well educated these graduates are and at what cost.

States having the best overall education efficiency, according to the Center for Applied Economic Research:

1. UTAH
2. N DAKOTA
3. TENN
4. IOWA
5. NEVADA
6. ARKANSAS
7. MONTANA
8. MISSOURI
9. N CAROLINA
10 ALABAMA

and the ten WORST in education efficiency (from the bottom):

NJ
NY
DE
MD
CT
RA
RI
LA
PA
MA
CA

Education, like everything else in life, is about bang-for-the-buck.

I'm interested in knowing where that data came from, because, it appears to conflict with this data.

The graphic is clearly a County map, yet it is labelled "States % < 9 Yr. Education".
It was obviously assembled by a non-professional, leaving its veracity in doubt.

I guess I'll have to ask a few more times before Koan musters up the courage to answer.

Koan, where did you get this data from? What is the source?

Who do you think the people in the dark are? Don't you know? They are from South of the border.

Your map conflicts with US census data which shows some of the southern states have higher rates of HS graduation than California. Everything liberals post is crap.
