Government is to rule people. You cannot protect them and serve them if you do not rule them. E.g. stop lights and laws that protect people, courts that convict those who disobey the law. That is called democracy. And it is true the majority can be unfair the the minority, but we have not found any way to totally prevent that . <<Liberals, including socialists, communists and fascists, all believe that the purpose of govt is to rule the people. Libertarians and most conservatives, know that the purpose of govt is to protect and serve the people.
