The drop-downs would be better if they were the same color as the main background and the double spacing was eliminated to make them smaller. * * *

I'm wondering which is worse ... SI Dmitry (code monkey)'s annoying mouse-hover-induced popups (aka dropdowns) on the SI screen or SI Ron (Hall Monitor)'s attempted use of silly humor to bash the good SI members who dared criticize Dmitry's bad design idea. SI's current tone sadly is a reminder that it's not Jill's SI anymore. Since you made the drop down menu, and public recommends mandatory, my dog pooped on the living room carpet, and the brakes on my car are starting to squeal.
