IYO is there such a thing as government too big and too intrusive and controlling?

Who cares about my opinion, I'm making an observation not trying to push a political side.

Why don't you answer my questions? If governments are so bad why do we institute multiple layers of them, everywhere? Why do we obey them, almost by rote? They regulate everything you do, how often you cut your own grass, what gas you put in your car, how the plumbing and electrical in your house works, where you can walk, who you have sex with, what your clothes are made of ... ... ... it's smothering, isn't it?

So the question is, why do we do it, universally and instinctively? Not trying to be a jerk, but it's a question you need to ask yourself.
