Most workers need unions to protect them e.g. coal miners or teachers. Teachers do need protection from the plutocrats who rule them. There is nothing as evil, powerful and greedy as a local school board member!

Most workers need unions to protect them e.g. coal miners or teachers. The most dangerous coal mines that I have been in have been union mines. They are also the most difficult in getting any work done. That's not to say that some non-union mines haven't followed the tradition of the union mines when it comes to safety. But given a choice, I would go into a non-union mine sooner than a union mine pretty much any day. The non-union mines tend to pay better too.
