Teachers do need protection from the plutocrats who rule them. There is nothing as evil, powerful and greedy as a local school board member!

Will the unions protect the coal miners from the green whack-jobs who are trying to put them out of business. Are unions pro-CO2?

The most dangerous coal mines that I have been in have been union mines. They are also the most difficult in getting any work done.

That's not to say that some non-union mines haven't followed the tradition of the union mines when it comes to safety. But given a choice, I would go into a non-union mine sooner than a union mine pretty much any day.

The non-union mines tend to pay better too.
