He first noticed your chart only goes to 2,000

IOW he didn't grasp the important thing about the charts .... the changes in past temperatures, particularly the changes in the relationship of temperatures at key points in the past.

Also note that the chart isn't "mine" - it's based on NASA GISS data as it existed at different times.

In 1980, GISS said that global temperatures in 1980 were lower than in 1940. By 1987, they showed 1980 as higher than 1940.

And notice that in 1980, GISS had the 60's COOLER than the decade of 1945-1955. By 1987, those two periods had moved closer. But by 2007, GISS had the 60's WARMER than 1945-1955. You can't really change the past. What they're doing is Soviet style science where history is changed for propaganda reasons: This should scandalize your SIL if he has any scientific integrity!

Wharf Rat's postings are just spin to try to justify Hanson's cooking the books.

BTW the charts at the top of my original post show that Hanson has cooked the books for the lower 48 US as well. Hold your cursor on the high point in 1998 and compare it to the high points decades earlier. As you can see, between 1999 and 2008, they cooled the past in the lower 48 and raised the temps in later decades:

That's in addition to changes they'd made before 1999.
