Energy dependence is very strategic. Those days of "oil reserves" politics are over. Nations like China are now ahead of the US in renewables. That was clearly demonstrated in the case of Solyndra, which unfortunately was politicized instead of going into the true cause which is China beating the pants off the US in renewables technology. The Solyndra technology was outdated before even the first Solyndra cell was produced. The pipeline is another decision that Obama has to make. I hope he considers all aspects of the issue instead of just the environmental aspect. looking at merely one aspect is not in the best interest of the country. Politics in today's world is becoming very complex and the US is not all that mighty and powerful any more as we are seeing happen in the Snowden case. I am hoping that the US intelligence snatches Snowden and brings him back to the US.
