It's not exactly like Jim Carey denouncing Kick Ass 2 but sort of like it. Now people may actually want to see that movie. There was zero interest before.

1. People into non-violence don't go watch stuff like Kick Ass 2 anyway. I don't mind violence when it contributes to a good story but that stuff is just gratuitous.
2. Kick Ass 1 was a flop. Why did they make a second one?
3. Carey knows this is the best promotion the movie could possibly get for people who are into that sort of thing. So the movie will do better because of his so-called denunciation than it would have done if he'd gone on talk shows to promote it.

4. People screeching about Paula Deen are not the people who watched her show anyway.
5. I never heard of Paula Deen until all this publicity. Now everyone has and people who like that sort of cooking are going to be salivating until she gets a show back on the air.
6. She has obviously been victimized to the max by the politically correct hypocrites. She did something good by coming clean on regretful behavior from times gone by. Everyone has done something regretful in their personal history. How many have stood up like she did. The backlash from that will go in her favor when she makes her come back.
7. Now people who've never seen her show will probably tune in.
