Problem with Natural size and the US is with the energy boom.. they are once again possibly the Undiscovered Country.. I don't know about Natural size for US.. size affected by resources also.. and seems they have more since we apparently have now seen Peak Peak Oil for a while at least :O) Japan.. yes different case.. cuslture a problem, (corollary is demographics) and resource poor... (starved).. long ago when they staked out their islands they should have considered resources.. 1935 was already too late...
