Where have we seen these origin myths before? Homer & the Heros of the Iliad ? Foundation myths are instruments to establish genealogies to the great father heros, like creation stories but of the tribe, nation or cities. These stories of King David and merry old King Solly were modeled & used exactly in the same way as their counterpart Irano-Hellenistic examples. There is no archaeological evidence they ruled over any large empire around the Euphrates, especially not dated to when they're supposed to have existed, way off base. I think the genius and power lie with the scientists and scholars who have painstakingly put together what really happened, based on real evidence, even though it goes against what they have been told is holy and authoritative. (The true testament is to what the human mind can discover when it does not delude itself)
