MB, below you listed a list of events happenent but you forgot to mention item 14, MB missed longest bull market ever in history!

To All, A few comments on what has happened in tech stocks since I've been
incommunicado:

1. Micron died, but the market doesn't know it yet. -g-

2. MUEI died and the market knows it.

3. Atmel hit the skids.

4. Western Digaditch has been my best put stock in a long time.

5. Toshiba quit the retail pc business. I didn't expect that. Steve was right for one in
a row. -g-

6. Ascend is doing just that again.

7. As I predicted, the market bulls are pretending that everything is ok until after
Christmas and their bonuses are locked into place. -g-

8. Gold. Yuk! Platinum has also gone down, but gold's troubles are not similar to
platinum's prospects. Impala and Stillwater remain on my buy list.

9. It doesn't matter to Amat and Novellus if all their customers go broke. -g-

10. Oracle got real.

11. I threw some nasty shots at Fred Fahmy over on the almost defunct "Ask
Michael Burke (if you believe his is real" thread). I hope Fred has a sense of humor,
but most true believers do not.

12. Gateway defies gravity. Great put stock.

13. DRAM cannot be given away.

Good luck, MB

Hello Mike!

Welcome back!!! What are your target prices for GTW puts?? Do you expect them to pre-announce lousy earnings some time soon or would you wait until after Christmas to get in??

Regards,
Jon

Mike - what's your take on gold?? I know that you don't like it - but when will you be a buyer of gold and/or gold mining stocks??

Regards,
Jon

Mike:

Good to see you are back. I have been following nvls, gtw and mu with puts. Have done ok so far but no big winners yet.

I find the following analysis of micron interesting. If stocks are to reflect future values consider the following information I pulled up from first call:

est earnings for year ending nov 1998
Current 4 weeks ago 8 weeks ago 13 weeks ago
0.74 ******* 1.73 ******* 1.98 ******* 2.76

If you look at their 52 week high of $60 and ratio the newly revised eps estimates you figure they would be trading at about 0.74/2.76 or about $16.

I love the way that estimates are quietly moved down w/o notifying the general public. Estimates have been quietly moved down the entire last couple of weeks. For example, this quarter eps: on 11/27 they were 0.19 and as of 12/04 they are shown as 0.12 Personally, I find it hard to figure how they make any money but if they continually revise estimates downwards they may end up with a surprise.

What are your current thoughts on gtw ? (The dual marketing approach using stores and direct sales seems to indicate some lack of focus from my point of view)

What do you feel the best puts are and what entry prices are you looking at. Do not confine your response to technology stocks only as I feel their are other candidates out there... again thanks for reply and it is good to have you back
