THC,

I see you weren't able to dig up any press releases/product brochures that cite Komatsu as the laser being used.

Can you call Komatsu and ask them how many lasers they shipped over the last three months or whatever their last fiscal quarter was? This number would instantly tell us how strong a player they are currently so we would not have to speculate.

TIA,

Bob

PS For the last three months of 97 I would guess the market breaks down like this:

Komatsu 20
Cymer 130
LP ?

THC, when I used to look at these things (few years back) the most complex chips had about 27 to 30 "process steps, usually no more than 1/4th of exposure. The number of 110 EDU systems implies 50 exposures processing are implied or 200 process steps, it is difficult for me to believe that a wafer can survive so many processing steps without a major decline in yields. The tendency is to try and minimize the number of process steps since the overall yield is the product of each step's yield. Something must be wrong with that number and my calculations. If we really want to be realistic about the market potential for CYMI, I think that some of the expert here should step forward and tell us what they know. For instance, what the average number of exposures per wafer. Come on guys, someone on this thread must know that.
