I've reduced my pref shares and bought whacked reits. Some buys were a bit too soon (DLR), but I've done quite a bit over the past week or two. Some pref shares were redeemed earlier in the year, and more recently all that were too much $ > par were sold. 85% of my pref shares now mature in 2017-2018, and, on average, my pref shares are selling under par with a 7.5% yield.

If you consider pref shares to be a parking spot for cash, then I am market timing too. But an opposite bet to yours.
