(edit) I find it interesting too, but it's total different to control the gold price when it's been in a bear for 20 years vs a mid cycle correction with every LT reason to buy gold more valid than ever. Is ABX desperate/dumb enough to hedge again? If they do will it really matter to the same degree? Assuming they do hedge I can't seem them hedging nearly as big a percentage as they did in the past. To take down ABX from a debt standpoint I think you'd need to hold gold under $1,000 for several years and even then I think they'd find a way to survive. Different beast these days. Costs will be coming down soon as well. China/FED trying to allow bubbles to cool, but they can't keep their money presses idle for very long.
