150 years ago. I have no idea what it has to do with someone who wasn't even alive at the time. But you should be careful about talking about "white southerners" -- because "white northerners" are not exactly pure on this issue. They have been locking up blacks in droves for decades, enslaving blacks to a life of dependence and poverty, and generally keeping blacks down -- far worse than anything southerners have done in Paula Deen's lifetime. I have never said northerners were pure in this matter. But they were smart enough not to fight in defense of slavery. It is easy to point out the tragic mistreatment of blacks like Emmit Till, but no one ever talks about the blacks -- as a result of liberal policy -- that are killing each other all over America because they live in a futile cycle of dependency, drugs, incarceration and family abandonment -- and that is at least as much a northern problem as it is a southern one. What do you think started that futile cycle as you put it? >> They were kept in ghettos, forced to go to separate schools, forced to use separate facilities, hung from trees, tarred and feathered and run out of town, torched to death, and even to this day, used as hunting sport by whites......esp in the South. You really might need to learn something about the history of racism in this country before you go laying it all on the South. Because it isn't nearly that simple. I know exactly the history of racism in this country. What I find fascinating is that the place where it was most entrenched fights changing the most. Northern whites may be racist but they are smart enough to keep it themselves and not make racial slurs in public. >> How dare you complain about affirmative action. But we aren't doing blacks a favor by creating people, like Barack Obama, who get through an educational system without the skills their diplomas suggest they ought to have, or by giving blacks a free pass when it comes to life. People like Benjamin Carson and Condi Rice have shown that blacks can be every bit as capable as whites. It is the northern liberal who is holding down blacks today. Do you really think anyone is buying your BS about Obama? He is head and shoulders above anyone the GOP has......head and shoulders. Is he perfect? Of course not........there is no such thing as a perfect human being. Do I agree with everything he does? Of course not. But what I am grateful for is that the man has overseen this country's transition from one of the worse recessions in the last 100 years back to a working economy, saved the auto industry from collapse, established Obamacare, is keeping us out of wars and is making strides in other arenas. Of course he could be doing more if it weren't for Rs but most of us have accepted the fact that the GOP is the curse that this country must endure.
