Sonki, OTOT_Roth IRA, INTC,AMAT,BAY Knew of 4 qrtly payments for Roth convert in '98, reason it has most appeal, along with real possibility of techs hibernating until Spring of '98, therefore convert in Jan. Saying that, techs will probably take off earlier, won't complain. (Will be vacationing 1st wk of JAn. on ship in Carib., won't care anyway) Re: living off of kids income as quid pro quo for IRA- we're in a different mindset; We're thrilled our 20 somethings can/will support themselves now; if IRA grows, who knows, in 20-40 years, R's may vote in natl. sales tax, to some degree, increase estate exemption to multi-million $$ ( Love to have that-We can dream), all money is tax free even if it's not withdrawn. Still interested in why you're reluctant to opine on INTC, AMAT in '98,99,2000. Are you totally pharmacuetical based long term? Re: bonus-10% avg., but can't see a college grad becoming a job-hopper year to year, plus incentive is there, if job is right, to stay, get mngr. postion in overseeing small grp. in THREE yrs, huge boost in comp., pay for post grad. masters, PhD. Son really loves the field, would change employers only if horrible work environment. (BTW, he worked as summer intern 2 yrs ago at Wall Street Journal Interactive (WSJI). Great people, don't know if Dow Jones family will stick with it, Dow Jones stock has languished for years, they may sell out soooner than people think). Son is getting a Dell 233mght, laptop w/all bells and whistles for 21st/grad. present from Grandmom (for $4k). May get same from future employer. Seems like this market bodes as well for INTC as new dig./TV, video conferencing, etc., etc., stock may get out of the Rodney D. at long last in 98. Kurlak to do a turn-around next year, citing "fundamental change" garbage as excuse.IMH,(but heart-felt)O. Regards, Royco
